| Installing Your G-Wir! Switching System 1. First Things First – Document Your Old Setup Now! Measure the Pickup-to-string Height for each pickup, at Each End of the pickup - write it all down! Photograph or otherwise carefully document the existing wiring before you cut the wires! 2. Prepare Existing Pickguard Hardware for Removal: Strings – Screws – Knobs. Have an old hand-towel ready to place between the pickguard and guitar body so you don’t scratch the finish. WITH GREAT CARE, Lift and Flip the pickguard onto the hand-towel. 3. Snip Pickup Wires- close to original connections with switch, volume, and tone pot but, if possible, leave a bit (3/8”) of the old wire insulation attached to the old controls to help guide you, should you re-use the old pickguard controls in the future. Disconnect Output and Ground Wires from Pickguard in same manner. You might also take a photo or two of the innards now BEFORE you cut the wires. 4. Remove Pickups: Remove the retaining screws, keep pickup covers on, do not damage the extremely delicate pickup windings or pickup output wire connections. 5. Examine Fit of Your New G-Wir to Guitar: A. Carefully lay G-Wir Over guitar Body – See if Pickguard Edge Screws align perfectly! B. If So – Good, Move On – 99% of Strats will fit. If Not – You Have Two Choices: i. You can simply use the screw holes in the G-Wir: Mark and Drill a pilot Hole for screw. You can leave unused holes alone as it will be hidden. Or ii. See your Local, Authorized, G-Wir Dealer – They Can Handle This – Everything’s Going To Be O.K. - and not too expensive. 6. Attach Pickups to G-Wir: Refer to Wiring Chart - match chart to your pickups. (Wiring Chart Coming Soon) Do Not Monkey with Hinge Flap Yet! Take Pickup Hardware (Screws & Spacers) Off your Old Pickguard. Solder Pickup Wires: Black Wires to - colored wires to +, as per the Wiring Chart! Attach: Output Wires, Ground Wires. 7. Attach Pickguard to Guitar Body – Don’t Scratch Your Finish Now! Watch Out for Pickup Screws and Electronics. We know you’re excited, but work slowly and carefully now. Make Sure Wires are Not Pinched; they MUST Sit In the Body’s Channels and Cavity. Do Not Force Anything! *If You’re Stuck Call us – We Can Help! 8.
