Installing Your G-Wir! Switching System

1.        First Things First – Document Your Old Setup Now!
Measure the Pickup-to-string Height for each pickup, at Each End of the pickup - write it all down!  Photograph or
otherwise carefully document the existing wiring before you cut the wires!

2.        Prepare Existing Pickguard Hardware for Removal:
Strings – Screws – Knobs.  Have an old hand-towel ready to place between the pickguard and guitar body so you
don’t scratch the finish.  WITH GREAT CARE, Lift and Flip the pickguard onto the hand-towel.

3.        Snip Pickup Wires-
close to original connections with switch, volume, and tone pot but, if possible, leave a bit (3/8”) of the old wire
insulation attached to the old controls to help guide you, should you re-use the old pickguard controls in the
future.  Disconnect Output and Ground Wires from Pickguard in same manner.  You might also take a photo or
two of the innards now BEFORE you cut the wires.

4.        Remove Pickups:
Remove the retaining screws, keep pickup covers on, do not damage the extremely delicate pickup windings or
pickup output wire connections.

5.        Examine Fit of Your New G-Wir to Guitar:
A.   Carefully lay G-Wir Over guitar Body – See if Pickguard Edge Screws align perfectly!
B.   If So – Good,
Move On – 99% of Strats will fit.

If Not – You Have Two Choices:

i.  You can simply use the screw holes in the G-Wir:
Mark and Drill a pilot Hole for screw.  You can leave
unused holes alone as it will be hidden.
Or
